Dr. Patricia Sullivan serves as Director of the Physical Science Laboratory (PSL) at New Mexico State University and as Interim Vice President for Research, bringing more than four decades of experience as a mentor, innovator, and strategic leader. A three-time graduate of NMSU, she holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, a master’s degree in Economics, and a bachelor’s degree in Biology.

Dr. Sullivan previously served as Associate Dean for Outreach and Recruitment in the College of Engineering. As Associate Dean, she leds the College’s undergraduate recruiting efforts and statewide engineering extension programs focused on STEM outreach, technical business assistance, and professional development for business and industry professionals. She has extensive ties with industry organizations across New Mexico and the Western states, including serving as a Commissioner on the Western Interstate Commission on Higher Education. Her academic background is in energy policy, renewable energy integration, and workforce development. She also has extensive experience in advancing STEM educational opportunities for under-represented populations.
